Dubai, December 18, 2010: Emirates NBD, a leading bank in the region, became the first bank to establish a branch in Jumeirah Lakes Towers (JLT) - Dubai’s upcoming residential and business development - with the inauguration of its new “Gold Branch” in the Almas Tower.

The new branch, which is located on the ground floor of the landmark building, has been named the “Gold Branch,” as it will offer customers a comprehensive range of specialised gold products and services, providing retail and business customers with a one-stop shop for investing in gold.

“Over the past twelve months we have embarked on a more vigorous pace for strategic expansion across the UAE with the opening of 15 other new branches in addition to this one,” said Jamal Bin Ghalaita, Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Emirates NBD Group.

“The opening of the ‘Gold Branch’ is in line with our ongoing expansion programme, and Emirates NBD now has a total of 110 branches and 650 ATMs nationwide, making us more accessible to our customers than ever before,” he added.

Dubai’s second tallest commercial tower after the Burj Khalifa, the Almas Tower is also the centre piece of the 87 towers that make up the residential and commercial JLT development in the heart of new Dubai. The Emirates NBD branch will also share its address with the corporate offices of the Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC), as well as numerous other businesses housed throughout the 70 commercial floors of the skyscraper. It will also be strategically positioned to service the community of companies that trade in gold, resident in JLT.

Abdulelah AlKindy, General Manager Retail Banking, Emirates NBD said: “As the first bank to establish a branch in Jumeirah Lake Towers, the Emirates NBD ‘Gold Branch’ will serve the banking needs of the businesses and residents of the entire JLT community. The range of services on offer will include Personal Banking, business banking services for small to medium enterprises (SMEs) and 24-hour ATM facility for customers’ comfort and convenience.”

“Uniquely, the bank will also be offering a service for gold bullion customers, currently not available at any other branch,” he continued. “This includes the provision of physical gold as well as the working capital required by companies and suppliers in the gold and jewellery trade. Customers can also avail of the recently launched Gold Certificate product which allows them to invest in gold, without the security worries of physical storage of their investment.”

The new “Gold Branch” is open from 9AM to 3PM Saturday to Thursday, and is in addition to the ATM conveniently situated in Almas Tower for customers’ ease and convenience.
