Emirates NBD signs MOU with INJAZ "Startup Egypt" program
Emirates NBD Egypt has allocated nearly $50,000 for the "Startup Egypt" program in collaboration with INJAZ Egypt, which aims to empower young entrepreneurs in the MENA region through training and rehabilitating young entrepreneurs so they can set up their startups and promote innovation.
To qualify for Start-Up Egypt, potential entrepreneurs need to be between the ages of 21-30 and operate in various industries. Their businesses must also generate a positive impact on the socio-economic landscape, provide employment opportunities for the new generation and have no previous experience in starting a business or receiving funds.
Emirates NBD CEO, Mohamed Berro emphasized that, "the bank's collaboration with INJAZ's Start-Up Egypt is an integral step in achieving our objective of serving the community, kindling the entrepreneurial spirit within the new generation, and supporting sustainable development.".
Once the Start-Up Egypt has nominated the 35 qualified applicants for the program, a competition will be held between the entrepreneurs followed by an awards ceremony announcing the winners. Seven companies will be selected at that time and receive funding by Emirates NBD for the development of their products and services.
Head of Marketing and Customer Experience at Emirates NBD, Heidy Ragheb concurred with Mr. Berro, adding, "Emirates NBD Egypt is always committed to providing more access to people with special needs and has experience in launching the first group of branches without borders."
